Hand Blown at the Museum of Glass during the 2013 residency of Finnish Glassblowers Kirsi Anttila and Arto Lahtinen, the birds made in our Hot Shop are an opportunity for the team to experiment with color palettes. Collectors can find traditional Iittala designs created with a one-of-a-kind twist.
Treasured by collectors the world over, these MOG creations are a rare collectible and have a limited availability. In 2013 the team created many birds in a variety of styles.
Each bird is hand etched with MOG IITTALA 2013 to commemorate the residency and ensure authenticity.
The Curlew has a white body, iridescent black tail, iridescent wings, black neck and gold head.

Birds by Toikka
Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. His iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. Since then hundreds of new birds have joined the flock. The collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and would not have been possible without Toikka’s hands-on-approach at the glassworks and his keen understanding of each employee’s skills. Today, each glass bird is handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory.
