Like a stunning sunset, Cecil's body is saturated in rich red tones which flawlessly blend into orange. The smooth and plump body carries the texture of plumage through scalloped white lines, which start out sharp around the chest but gradually becomes windswept with motion towards the tail. A mirrored head sits intently atop a tall, graceful neck to further allure admirers.
Birds by Toikka
Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. His iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. Since then hundreds of new birds have joined the flock. The collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and would not have been possible without Toikka’s hands-on-approach at the glassworks and his keen understanding of each employee’s skills. Today, each glass bird is handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory.
