The Museum of Glass opened to the public with the exhibition, The Inner Light: Sculpture by Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová. This large-scale print commemorates the opening of this landmark exhibition. This limited edition was created by the artist just prior to his death and was made exclusively for Museum of Glass.
This print began as a photographic image of Libenský's recent painting, Angel. It was then transferred to a photo sensitized copper plate and etched in an acid bath using the intaglio process. A second plate was created to enhance the tonal range of the image. Finally, each is printed by hand, making it a unique work of art. Photogravure allows for a wide range of subtle tones and velvety rich blacks, surpassing other traditional printmaking techniques.
