This cup is dedicated to Lynn, a friend who would write me letters out of smooshed blackberries, who had the mind of a lawyer and the heart of lemur (I would have said lion but she would have not stood for something so expected) , and be game for making a celebration out of anything. She would write me letters not only in hand pressed blackberry juice, but with ballpoint pen - always including little stick figure illustrations and side captions. On the outside of one of the envelopes she wrote in her shaky ballpoint pen scribbles YOU ARE A GREAT BEAUTY. The world lost Lynn, but I still have this envelope on my desk. And still walk a little prouder knowing I was dubbed so by such a wondrous woman.
May we not only see our friends as the national treasures they are, but may we tell them often. May we know we travel in the company of great beauty, when we travel in the company of good friends.
The Spark Cups are my painted poems upon a cup, with a bit of wonder and kindness stirred into the art for good measure. Designed in my Washington State studio, made in Thailand in a facility meets European standards for people and planet. Holds 9 ounces.

Useful Care Instructions:
The bottom of the cups is porous and will absorb water during washing. It is best to make sure it can dry upside down completely before putting away, thus allowing all the water to evaporate from the cup to keep it in pristine condition.

Living off the grid, artist Cary Lane creates ceramics inspired by nature. While attending California State University Long Beach, she fell in love with ceramics. Living near Mount Baker Washington, she incorporates wildlife and themes of the outdoors in her work.
